Platform
The Federal government should not be involved in education. Since the federal Department of Education was created, the quality of education has only become worse. Local control of schools would allow more responsiveness to the needs of the people in the district.
The proposed Department of Homeland Security involves the nationalization of local police forces. Keeping police forces local is an important safeguard against tyranny. Every totalitarian government has had a nationalized police force as a key factor to enforce its dictates on the citizens.
Our federal government has helped many terrorists, such as Batista, Noriega, Shah of Iran, Saddam Hussein, and Osama bin Laden. Unfortunately, the government is still helping terrorists in two ways. Intervention in foreign countries creates enemies, resulting in more terrorists. The War on Drugs has given terrorists the means to raise money, organize armies and aquire weapons to use against the US. We should remember the wisdom of the founding fathers and adopt a non-interventionist foreign policy. Ending the failed War on Drugs would greatly reduce the funding sources for would-be terrorists.
