Background
I was born in Queens, New York on July 14, 1962. My father's occupation as a computer programmer caused the family to move many times as I grew up. I have lived in Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, Vermont, Colorado and Italy long before settling in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware in 1991. The diverse back round of my youth has given me a view of the world few can imagine.
A graduate of Woodstock Union High School, Woodstock, Vermont in 1981, I began working in the Hotel trade. My first job was washing dishes, I soon moved into other positions. Currently I am the Associate Front Office Manager at one of Rehoboth Beach's Hotels where I have been employed for over five years.
In 1995 I finished course work at Delaware Technical and Community College in Georgetown in both Communications and General Business. I was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the Honor Society of Two Year Colleges, serving as their Public Relations Officer.
My son Benjamin, born in Denver, Colorado in 1983, is following in my footsteps; he too graduated from Woodstock Union High School and now plans on attending Delaware Tech. this spring.
Platform
The political race for the 14th District has three fine candidates, each bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and a conviction of public service. The new 14th Representative District seat will send a message to the rest of Delaware and to the members of the General Assembly. The question facing voters in November will be a tough one. This part of Delaware is changing at an amazing pace, and my opposition knows this.
I plan on making this position as a full time job while they plan on keeping it as part time job. The Republican candidate Mike Meoli, owns four McDonalds and a Hampton Inn. He is the father of three. When will he have time to represent Delaware and the 14th District? The Democratic candidate, Pete Schwartzkopf, is a captain for the State Police with twenty-five years on the force. His support of the State Police is strong; he wants a greater number of police on the streets. Laws for laws sake and rule by force, he is part of the machine which endangers our civil rights.
I am the better choice. Making the 14th District my number one job is the promise I will keep.
Issues facing the 14th District
-
Traffic is the number one concern in Coastal Sussex County. As the population has shifted to the Coastal regions the money to support infrastructure has not. Delaware routes 1 and 24 are handling more traffic than they were designed to. DelDot has done traffic studies in many areas, suggesting to the County Council that developers be denied zoning changes and building permits. Why? Why has DelDot failed to improve the roads here? Their own studies have shown the need but the money still sits in the Northern part of the state. DelDot needs to get out of park and put their studies to work. Waiting another four years to start improvements on route 24 is a delay we don't need. As a Representative, I will fight hard to get these projects started quickly.

House Bill 99, an Anti-discrimination bill has stalled in committee. This bill would grant gays and lesbians legal protection under the law that is afforded to citizens currently for race, religion, sex and age. The fear that this will create a flood of laws suits has kept it from being presented to the floor of the House for open debate and vote. We as a nation pride ourselves on the protection of rights of every citizen. Delaware should do the same. This bill needs to get to the floor and passed.
