What should belong in the LPD's platform? Please give us your thoughts and help us build a platform that we all can stand on. If you have an idea post it here so others can make comments pro and con. Let's use this forum to plot our course for liberty in Delaware.
Let's get specific. Begin a discussion about the idea(s) or suggestion(s) you'd like to see as one of the planks in our platform.

These are the five planks of the Contract With Delaware that the LPD approved as part of its platform in convention on March 19, 2005
We don’t need professional politicians; we need a citizen run government. All elected offices of the state legislature will be term limited to eight (8) years.

Initiative & Referendum gives the people a direct ability to reign in an out of touch government or jolt an indifferent government into action. Historically, I&R gave women the right to vote, ended prohibition and enacted serious campaign finance reform. Currently, every state in the nation except Delaware requires that all constitutional amendments be placed on the ballot for approval by its citizens.

In Delaware, elected officials are chosen through a winner take all system. Plurality voting often forces people to vote against someone, rather then vote for who they really want. Instant Runoff Elections however, is a different system that better represents the will of the voters. Voter’s rate each of the candidates in order from most favored to least.

In Delaware, we place the power to shape political districts in the hands of the politicians rather then an independent commission. In a democratic republic, it is the voters who decide who will represent them. In Delaware, it is the politicians who choose the voters.

Nothing shook the people’s faith in their state government than the back room deal over the pay raises, therefore, all members of the state legislature will return to the 2004 pay scale, and all future pay increases will be tied with state employees.

Our current drug laws and the public policy they supposedly implement are quite simply not compatible with life in a free society. This group of forums is about how we should reform them.
Most of the currently illegal recreational drugs have legitimate medical uses. But because of the War On Drugs, sick people are being denied access to many effective medicines to cure or improve their condition or at least reduce their pain. Even when drugs are legal for medical use, they are beyond the reach of many patients because heavy regulation drives up the price, or because many doctors are reluctant to prescribe them for fear of government retribution.
