Election results

The election is over. Thanks to our candidates for the efforts. Most were just paper candidates, but everyone of them prepared solid answers for the newspaper questionnaires. In addition, of course, we had two 'real ' candidates: Frank Infante for Governor, and Dave Wood for State Rep.

Well, none of our guys won. What a surprise. There may be a way to get people to vote for someone that is not a Democrat or a Republican, but no one but Ross Perot has been able to do it in my lifetime (and he was helped just a tad by being able to spend 10's of millions of his own money.)

We don't expect to win. The point of our campaigns is to have the opportunity to spread the word. When we participate in debates and/or write up positions for the newspapers, we have a good chance of exposing people to Libertarian principles for the first time. We have the right ideas. Eventually, and with exposure, they are bound to catch on.

No, we don't expect to win. But that doesn't mean that getting 1 or 2% of the vote is not disappointing. And obviously, the more work put into the campaign, the more so.

I want all of our candidates to know that their work is appreciated.

Thank you

George Smith
