Meeting at Panera Bread Company, Route 2, at 3650 Kirkwood Highway (intersection with Duncan Road). 6:30 PM to 8:00. Panera closes at 8:00! so meeting is over then! I'll be there early (really) to grab a section for us. Hope to see you there! Manager says its not busy Sunday evenings, and that was true for our July meeting. Good treats, good bread, good soups, good salads, Panini pizza, and WIFI. Also, I hope to have a balloon at our table for those who want to find us, if not, the gavel (crab hammer) should be a give away.

Well kick around our Newark community day booth (event is set for Sunday, September 16, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, on the UD green). Any movement on tracking down the banner for our booth?

Background

Raised in a suburb of Chicago; graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy with a BS degree; attended NYU-GBA while working in maritime management. Recently retired from a life-long career at sea.

Platform

I'm on the ballot as the NOTA candidate - none of the above. On Delaware voting machines my name will be to the right, not above of the two main parties, geographically, not politically. In essence if they are for it, I'm against it.

Platform

Hello, my name is Carl S. Dunn and I am running for the 8th district New Castle County Council seat as a Libertarian. My reasons for running are many: one of the foremost is to offer the public a candidate who is ethical and is willing to stand up for those who are sick and tired of the corruption and dirty dealing going on in the offices of the New Castle County Council and with the elected executives who have broken the publics' trust in those officials who are using the office for their own personal gains. As a Libertarian, one of the goals is to reduce the cost of government and to find ways to return tax dollars into the pockets of the tax payers... something politicians seem loathe to do. Some things government must maintain, such as maintianing public safety and health are the inevitable cost of keeping the streets and homes of the public safe from crime, cost money and therefore use taxpayers monies, these things are the price of our desire to be a part of a civil society. What we must guard from is when the elected officials we put in office and have betrayed the public trust and have used the system for their own personal benefit at the cost of those who can least protect themselves and have put their trust in those elected officials. We are all at the mercy of the elite who control and run the system and we can only hope they do the right thing by us. The system, however, is one in which the public is to be served by dedicated and honest servants who are in it to do something good for all, not just themselves. I urge you all to stand up and vote for me this time and help me to do something for the public who deserves an honest effort by an honest servant of the public.

The State Government in Delaware is out of control. Delaware hosts some of the countries largest corporations, but it is the State that is our largest employer. State revenues ballooned during the economic boom of the 90's, but State spending more than kept pace. Thus when the economy slows slightly we have a budget crisis.

Platform

I want to be the next 6th District State Representative for the State of Delaware because I truly care for the concerns of the constituents of this district. During the 23 years that my opponent, Dave Ennis, has held the office he has consistently ignored the needs of the taxpayers who pay his salary. He uses his seats on the Appropriations, Economic Development Banking and Insurance, Joint Finance, Housing and Community Affairs, and Revenue and Finance committees to make sure the needs of his big industry friends are met. But what about the street lights in Bellfonte? How about the sidewalks in Edgemoor Gardens? How about the stop signs needed to slow traffic on several streets in his district?

Letter to Wayne Smith

To All Who Inhabit Wayne Smith's Legislative World Please Note: A Past Letter I Wrote. It is about Wayne Smith's Respresentation . . . of Wayne Smith.

Wayne's World View Narrows

I tried to have a "conversation" on Wednesday, April 11, 2001, with Rep. Wayne Smith, my Representative, regarding HB 105 (about Redistricting boundaries and the attendant need for open hearings).

But Wayne Smith hung up on me.

When he hung up on me, I was in the middle of the sentence that started, "Wayne, you work for me . . . "

I am a Judicial activist who has rallied against the money-driven courts and the fraud-imputing Family Court attorneys who are depleting our and our children's assets. I founded the grassroots organization "Coalition For Family Law Reform," and have contributed articles to numerous publications, including the News Journal and the Delaware State News.

Platform

Neither Reps. Wayne Smith (R) nor David Brady (D) are responsive to voter's rights when they ignore the Constitution in sponsoring / voting for bills. For instance:

  1. Smith's sponsoring of HJR 7 is an extreme example of victimizing the homeowner, where a broken pane of window glass can force incarceration;
